A Slack workspace is a single place for your team and your work. If you’ve recently joined one, this guide will help you get set up in Slack so you can get started. Before you dive in, make sure you’ve downloaded the desktop app and you’re able to sign in to your workspace.
In Slack, work happens in channels and direct messages (DMs). You can send messages and files, save messages and files to bookmark them, pin important messages to conversations, and mention other people to get their attention. Keep reading to learn more about how these features work.
How notifications work:
Someone sends you a direct message (DM)
Someone mentions you, notifies a channel you’re in, or uses one of your keywords
Someone replies to a thread you're following
You receive a message from Slackbot
Apps connect other software you use (like Google Calendar, Salesforce, or one of your company's internal tools) to Slack. With all your tools in one place, you can streamline work and help people in your workspace collaborate more effectively.
Slack’s channel management tools allow owners and admins with permission to view a list of channels in their workspace or Enterprise Grid organization and take action on them from a central dashboard.
